Sean “Diddy” Combs has taken legal action against Netflix, sending a cease-and-desist letter through his lawyers to stop the streaming platform from releasing a new docuseries about his life and recent legal troubles. The letter came just one day before the scheduled premiere of Sean Combs: The Reckoning on December 2.
The four-part series, executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson—known as a longtime rival of Combs—has sparked controversy even before its release. Diddy’s spokesperson condemned the project as a “shameful hit piece” and accused Netflix of using “stolen footage that was never authorized for release.”
Netflix released a teaser for the docuseries on Monday, which reportedly includes some of the disputed footage highlighted by Combs’ representatives.
Currently serving a nearly four-year sentence related to prostitution charges, Diddy’s legal team is actively trying to prevent the series from airing.
