Chianapaga: MP supports 220 women with GH¢440,000 capital, donates streetlights

Member of Parliament for Chianapaga Nikyema Billa Alamzy extended significant support to women in his constituency. The women numbering 220 drawn from various communities in the constituency have been given a total amount of GH¢ 440,000. The funds have been released to the District Assembly for disbursement and each beneficiary is expected to receive a cheque of GH¢ 2,000. The amount is to serve as capital for the women undertake ventures that will improve their financial status.

The beneficiaries comprised of 85 women from the West Zone, 75 from the East Zone and 60 from the North Zone. The initiative is in line with Chapter Three of the MP’s manifesto, is aimed at empowering women to invest in their businesses and farming activities.

At a short ceremony, Mr. Alamzy encouraged the women to put the support to productive use. While acknowledging that the amount may not fully meet all their needs, he stressed its importance as a cushion for their businesses and livelihoods. He further urged women in the constituency to form groups or cooperatives, which would enable him assist them in registering and attracting additional support for their empowerment.

In fulfillment of another promise in Chapter Seven of his manifesto, which is to light up  communities in the constituency, the MP also presented 24 boxes of streetlights to the West Zone, with each box containing two units. He assured the East and North Zones would equally benefit from the streetlights he has procured to enhance security and visibility in the constituency.

The ceremony was graced by the District Chief Executive, the Constituency Chairman, the Women’s Organizer and other constituency executives, who joined the MP in supporting the initiative. The excitement and gratitude on the faces of the beneficiaries reflected how much this intervention meant to them, as many noted it would go a long way to strengthen their small businesses and improve their livelihoods.
