Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has lauded private sector participation in the sector especially in poultry production. The minister called for more involvement of private entrepreneurs in the Agric sector when he paid a working visit to the site of a state-of-the-art poultry feed factory under construction by A2 Company in Kumasi.
The facility, which will operate under the brand name “NKOKƆ NKETENKETE FEED,” is expected to be a game-changer in Ghana’s poultry industry.

The factory according to the minister the factory has a processing and storage capacity of 30,000 tonnes of maize and soya beans, positioning it as a critical supply hub for poultry farmers across the country.
“It will serve as a huge market for our farmers and contribute significantly to the poultry sub-sector by producing feed at affordable price.”

The minister further commended A2 Company for what he describes “bold private sector intervention” to augment government’s efforts at increasing poultry production, thereby reducing the huge poultry import bill.
“This is a clear evidence of how the private sector can create gainful employment for the youth of our nation through agribusiness.”
The A2 poultry feed project is expected to create direct and indirect jobs for hundreds of Ghanaians while deepening value addition within the agricultural value chain.

In a Facebook post, the minister expressed excitement the “NKOK) NKETENKETE FEED will soon hit the market.
The Minister’s visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to supporting agribusinesses that contribute to Ghana’s food self-sufficiency agenda and provide sustainable livelihoods for its citizens.
