President Mahama has revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA. The appointment of Anne Sally has been heavily criticised as a result of controversy surrounding her medical credentials. The Medical and Dental Council has disclosed Anne Sally cannot practise as a medical doctor in Ghana since she is not registered with the outfit.
The revelation follows an inquiry from a member of the public to the council. Lawyers for Anne Sally have however since clarified though she is not certified to practise in Ghana, she is a certified medical doctor in the United States. According to some claims Anne Sally attended the prestigious John Hopkins Uinversity Such a claim has also been questioned by some members of the public.
In a letter signed by Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama dated May 23, 2025, ‘Dr.’ Sally’s appointment was revoked. Accra News Online has gathered the revocation took place even before the board was sworn in by the minister for health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh on May 27.
The letter that went out earlier signed by the Secretary to the President however had Anne Sally’s name as a member of the board of the NHIA.
The letter revoking her appointment named Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke as her freplacement on the Board.
“I write to inform you that the President of the Republic has with immediate effect, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly as a member of the Board of National Health Insurance Authority. The President has nominated Prof. Dr. (Med) Ernest Yorke to replace her as a member of the Board.” The letter stated
