The General Legal Council has officially called 155 new lawyers to the Bar in an ongoing enrollment ceremony, marking a significant milestone in Ghana’s legal profession.
The ceremony, chaired by the Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, formally opened the doors for the newly qualified lawyers to join the Bar. The event underscores the Council’s role in regulating legal education and professional standards in the country.
During the ceremony, each of the 155 new lawyers is being called individually to receive their certificates, signifying their admission to practice law in Ghana.
The event has drawn the presence of key stakeholders in the legal fraternity, including justices of the Supreme Court and the President of the Ghana Bar Association, Efua Ghartey.
Also in attendance are the Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, and his deputy, Justice Srem-Sai. The academic community is represented by the Director of the Ghana School of Law, Raymond Atuguba, as well as the Dean of the University of Ghana School of Law, Peter Atupare, among others.
The call to the Bar ceremony represents the culmination of years of rigorous legal education and training, and the beginning of professional practice for the new lawyers, who are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethics and service in the administration of justice.
