After twenty-one and a half years of serving as Kadehene, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II has officially stepped down.
In an official statement dated October 22, 2025, he expressed gratitude to the Aduana family for entrusting him with the responsibility of sitting among the illustrious ancestors and leading the people of Kade.
“I extend my gratitude to the Aduana family, who placed their trust in me to lead the Kade people in place of my illustrious ancestors,” the statement read.
But the true reason behind the decision is installation of a rival chief by the family head of the Kade Aduana Royal Family. The move had made the 21-year reign of Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II tumultuous one with one court case after the other.
Fed up with the development the chief at a meeting with his subordinates on October 22, 2025, announced his resignation.
While many believed the meeting had been convened to mark the celebration of Awukudae, the chief instead used the occasion to disclose his decision to abdicate the stool—a move that comes amidst longstanding resistance from some of his subordinates.
“I was enstooled as the chief of the Aduana Stool of Kade in April 2004. I would not want to tout the concrete developments I spearheaded while in office. My tumultuous reign is well known, and I thank God I survived it all. I have decided to abdicate the stool after twenty-one (21) years of being its occupant, with the singular purpose that those who actively undermined my reign can now come and continue the prosperity of Kademan and Okyeman,” he stated.
The Kingmakers are however yet to accept the abdication of the chief with the performance of appropriate rites per demands of custom.
