DVLA introduces six Ghanaian languages on driving theory test platform.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has introduced six Ghanaian languages on its computer-based driving theory test platform to make the licensing process more accessible to applicants who have difficulty reading or writing in English.

The Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, made the announcement at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, October 12, 2026.

The six languages currently available on the platform are Twi, Ga, Ewe, Dagbani, Nzema and Hausa.

According to Mr. Kotey, the initiative is intended to ensure that applicants can demonstrate their knowledge of road signs, traffic regulations, and safe driving practices without being disadvantaged by their inability to read or write in English.

“I am happy to report that the DVLA has introduced six local languages into its Computer-Based Test (CBT) platform to assist applicants who cannot read or write in English,” he said.

He explained that the Authority was working to expand the number of local languages available on the platform to accommodate more prospective drivers across the country.

The move forms part of efforts to improve access to driver licensing services while ensuring that applicants understand the rules and regulations required for safe driving.
