The Government of Ghana has taken delivery of 100 newly procured 29-seater buses as part of efforts to address ongoing challenges in the country’s road transport sector.
The buses form the first batch of a planned 300 vehicles aimed at improving public transportation and easing commuting difficulties across the country.
Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the development in a Facebook post on Sunday, April 5, 2026, stating that the initiative is part of a broader plan to expand transport capacity and improve mobility nationwide.
According to him, the remaining buses will be delivered in two additional phases, with another 100 expected in August and the final batch scheduled for November.
The phased rollout is expected to strengthen the transport sector, reduce passenger congestion, and provide more reliable services for commuters, while supporting economic activity and improving efficiency across the system.
Meanwhile, Head of Corporate Communications, Mohammed Mubarak Watara, has disclosed that new management has conducted an audit of the company following its assumption of office and will soon make the findings public.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Isaac Addae, he revealed that the audit uncovered troubling conditions, including instances where some employees had gone as long as eight years without any salary increment.
