Zoomlion Ghana Limited has assured workers engaged under the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA) Fumigation Project that all outstanding salary arrears will be paid once government releases funds owed under the contract.
In a press statement issued on Monday, August 3, the company acknowledged concerns raised by workers over delayed salaries and said it fully appreciates the difficulties the situation has caused.
According to the company, the delay is an exception to its record over the past 15 years and is due to delays in the release of funds for the MMDA Fumigation Project. It said it has been engaging the Government of Ghana and the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to facilitate the release of the outstanding payments.
Zoomlion said the engagements have been constructive and that it has received assurances that the processes required to release the funds are being finalised.
The company pledged to settle all legitimate arrears owed to workers immediately after receiving the outstanding payments from government. It also expressed gratitude to workers for their patience and commitment, noting that their efforts have been crucial in supporting public health through vector control and environmental sanitation activities across the country.
While recognising the constitutional right of workers to express their concerns peacefully, Zoomlion appealed to affected staff to remain calm and maintain confidence in the ongoing discussions aimed at resolving the issue.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its employees and said it remains confident the matter will be resolved through continued collaboration with government, the MMDAs and its workforce.
