The High Court has ordered the freezing of five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, as investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) continue.
The order, issued on Monday, August 3, temporarily prevents any transactions on the identified bank accounts and bars the sale, transfer, mortgage or disposal of the four properties until further orders of the court.
The preservation order forms part of EOCO’s ongoing investigation into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving approximately GH¢55 million during Mr. Aboagye’s tenure at the IMCCoD.
According to EOCO, investigators are examining procurement processes and financial transactions undertaken during the period to determine whether any financial impropriety occurred.
Under Ghanaian law, investigative agencies such as EOCO may seek preservation orders from the courts to prevent assets suspected to be linked to economic or organised crime from being moved or disposed of while investigations are ongoing.
Mr. Aboagye has denied all allegations against him, insisting he has committed no wrongdoing.
He was previously granted GH¢50 million bail with three sureties pending the outcome of the investigations.
The latest court order means the affected assets will remain frozen until the court determines otherwise.
