The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly disrupting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Executive Election at Bidieso in the Obuasi Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, identified as Haruna Iddrisu, also known as “Dole”, Osei Boateng, popularly called “Nana Osei”, and Charles Opoku, alias “Blackman”, allegedly stormed the polling station on July 12, 2026, armed with offensive weapons.

The officers arrested the three suspects at the scene and recovered an axe and a cutlass believed to have been used during the incident.

The suspects have since been arraigned before the Bekwai Circuit Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely rioting with weapons, and rioting with weapons. They pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The court granted each of them bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 with two justified sureties.

The case has been adjourned to August 10, 2026, as police continue investigations and intensify efforts to arrest other individuals believed to have participated in the disruption.
