Wontumi’s new Counsel Atta Akyea seeks change of judgment date in Samreboi case

Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, newly appointed counsel for Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has said he will be appealing to the trial High Court for a change of plan regarding the judgment date in the Samreboi case.

According to him, following his appointment as the new counsel, he will enter appearance and pray for the judgment date set for July 3 to be rescheduled.

Chairman Wontumi and his company Akonta Mining have been charged with six counts including assignment of mineral rights without prior written authorization. Under their previous counsel Andy APPIAH Kubi, closed their defence after calling four witnesses.

Speaking to journalists in Court on Thursday, Samuel Atta Akyea said he has concluded discussions with Wontumi and the next step is to ask for time to peruse the proceedings.
