Champions League: Barcelona thrash Newcastle 7-2 to storm into quarter-finals

FC Barcelona produced a stunning display of attacking football to dismantle Newcastle United 7-2 at the Spotify Camp Nou, sealing their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in emphatic fashion.

The second-leg encounter, billed as a high-stakes showdown, quickly turned into a one-sided affair as the Catalan giants overwhelmed their English opponents with pace, precision, and clinical finishing.

Barcelona wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Raphinha opening the scoring in the 6th minute after slicing through the Newcastle defence.

Newcastle showed brief resistance when Anthony Elanga found the net, offering the visitors a glimmer of hope.

The hosts responded in the 18th minute through rising star Marc Bernal, setting the tone for an entertaining.

10 minutes later, Anthony Elanga responded again after a good cross from Harvey Barnes.

However, Barcelona quickly regained control, and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal struck deep into first-half stoppage time from the penalty spot after Raphinha was brought down by Kieran Trippier giving the hosts a slim lead heading into the break.

The second half saw Barcelona elevate their dominance to another level. Fermín López made it four in the 51st minute, effectively ending any hopes of a Newcastle comeback.

Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski then took centre stage, netting twice in quick succession in the 56th and 61st minutes to stretch the lead to 6-1. Raphinha later capped off a brilliant individual performance with his second goal of the night in the 72nd minute, completing the rout.

The emphatic victory sees Barcelona advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face fellow La Liga side Atlético Madrid in an all-Spanish clash scheduled for Aprilfor
