A dispute over a GH¢300 debt has ended in tragedy at New Nkusukum in Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
The victim, identified as Agyeiku, was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend and work colleague, Kwame Pluto, after an argument over money they had earned from a day’s labour.
Eyewitnesses told GHOne News that the two men, who worked as informal labourers, had just returned from work when they began sharing their earnings. A disagreement broke out after Agyeiku demanded his share.
During the confrontation, Kwame Pluto reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed Agyeiku multiple times. The victim was rushed to the Roman Catholic Hospital at about 8 p.m. in critical condition but later died from his injuries.
Assembly Member for New Nkusukum, Ali Abubakar Soring, confirmed the incident. He said the suspect has been remanded in police custody at Ankaful in Cape Coast for two weeks as investigations continue.
Police say they are probing the circumstances surrounding the killing.
