Ghana’s FIFA Ranking Remains Unchanged in Latest World Rankings

Ghana’s Black Stars have begun 2026 on a quiet note in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, maintaining the same position they ended 2025 with.

According to the rankings released on Monday, January 19, Ghana remain 72nd globally and 14th in Africa. The position comes after the Black Stars secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.

In other developments, Morocco continue to enjoy a remarkable rise on the global stage despite missing out on the AFCON title. The Atlas Lions climbed three places to eighth in the world rankings, their highest-ever position and a return to the global elite for the first time since April 1998.

Morocco’s surge saw Belgium, Croatia, and Germany each drop one place in the latest standings.

AFCON champions Senegal also made significant progress, rising to 12th in the world rankings. The move underlines the Teranga Lions’ dominance on the continent and signals a renewed spell of strong form at the global level.

At the top of the rankings, Spain remain number one, while Argentina, France, and England complete the top four as international football continues to take shape with the World Cup in focus.
