Inflation eases to 6.3% in November, lowest level since 2021

Ghana’s inflation rate continued its downward trend in November 2025, easing to 6.3 percent, the lowest level recorded since the 2021 rebasing of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This marks the eleventh consecutive month of disinflation, reinforcing growing signs of improving macroeconomic stability.

Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, speaking on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, attributed the decline to broad-based moderation in both food and non-food prices, supported by more stable market conditions.

Data released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) show that food inflation dropped sharply from 9.5 percent in October to 6.6 percent in November, driven by sustained reductions across major food categories, improved supply chains, and lower transport and distribution costs.

Inflation for locally produced goods also eased, declining from 8.0 percent in October to 6.8 percent in November, reflecting better availability of domestic food items, reduced fuel-related pressures, and relative currency stability. Meanwhile, imported inflation fell from 7.8 percent to 5.0 percent, supported by lower international commodity prices and improved import cost dynamics.

The combined slowdown indicates broadly easing price pressures across the entire consumer basket, covering both domestically produced and imported goods.

Describing the development as a positive step toward economic recovery, Dr. Iddrisu said:

“Ghana’s inflation declined further to 6.3 percent in November 2025 — the lowest since the 2021 CPI rebasing and the eleventh straight month of decline.”

For households and businesses, the latest data signal a more predictable cost environment following years of volatility caused by global shocks, supply-chain disruptions, and currency depreciation.

The GSS reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring price movements to help sustain the disinflationary gains in the months ahead.
