A-G Report: We can’t continue to lose scarce resources through avoidable infractions- Ato Forson

Minister for Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has expressed worry over what terms continuous lose of “scarce national resources through infractions that are completely avoidable” as captured year in, year out in the Auditor-General’s report. Speaking at a meeting with Chief Directors and key audit head at ministries, departments and agencies, Dr. Forson argued the development “sends the wrong signal about our nation and risks undermining the peace, stability and confidence we have all worked so hard to restore”.
In a post on social media, the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam MP reminded the meeting of specialized courts set up to deal with infractions in the Auditor-Generals Reports.
“We cannot continue to lose scarce national resources through infractions that are completely avoidable. Ghana truly deserves better.
I encouraged the team to drive these infractions down to the barest minimum and reminded them that we now have specialised courts ready to prosecute breaches of our financial laws.” Dr. Forson cautioned.
According to him the development is a new chapter and thus “accountability will no longer be optional”.
“Discipline in public financial management is not just a requirement. It is a duty we owe to every Ghanaian.” He charged
