Ghana is hosting the 60th Annual General Meetings of The Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), under the patronage of the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor from Monday July 27 to Friday July 31 2026.
The event taking place at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra, Ghana is under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Electricity Market Integration: Advancing Regulatory Readiness, Regional Market Development and Strategic Partnerships”.
The event is in collaboration with the Volta River Authority, Bui Power Authority, Ghana Grid Company, the Electricity Company of Ghana, and the Northen Electricity Distribution Company).
The Annual Meetings will assemble approximately two hundred (200) Chief Executive Officers, Managing Directors, General Managers, Technical Directors, and industry experts from APUA member organizations, as well as representatives of African and international institutions collaborating with APUA.
According to a release, the week‑long event will provide an important platform for strategic dialogue, thought leadership, knowledge sharing, and the strengthening of partnerships aimed at addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities within Africa’s electricity sector and energy markets. Key highlights of the week‑long event include the Ordinary General Assembly, the APUA CEO’s Governance and Leadership Forum, The African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM) Forum, The ANCEE Steering Committee Informative Meeting and the APUA, IRENA and UNEZA Capacity Building Session on Energy Transition and Renewable Energy.
The opening ceremony which will be held on Tuesday July 28, 2026 will be streamed live across the social media platforms of VRA, APUA and the other partner public utilities in Ghana. There will also be technical visits by the delegates to the power generation, transmission and distributions sites as well as training facilities at Akosombo, Akuse, Tema and Bui on Friday July 31,2026
