An intense grand finale ensued at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru as Flamengo Regattas defeated fellow Brazilian Serie A side Palmeiras 1-0 to win the Copa Libertadores (South American Champions League final).
The winning goal came from an unlikely source in the person of former Manchester City as Juventus defender, Danilo who powered home a super header into the twine in the 67th minute via a well taken corner kick by Uruguayan forward Giorgian De Arrascaeta.

This victory marks Flamenco’s first Copa Libertadores conquest in 3 years thereby making them the first Brazilian team to win four continental titles led by former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea left back, Felipe Luis whose side had a lion’s share of possession throughout the game, while Palmeiras found it hard to pose a scoring threat.
This win also marks the seventh consecutive year a Brazilian team has lifted South America’s prestigious title, and for Flamengo their next attempt is to sling home the Brazilian title as they lead Palmeiras by a point.
