The Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Brogya Genfi has assured the families of the six people who died during a military recruitment exercise at El-Wak Stadium in Accra that their relatives will be automatically recruited into the Armed Forces.
Speaking during a visit to one of the victim Priscilla Larbi’s family in Enyanmaim, in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, Mr. Gemfi consoled the family and announced the decision to enroll one relative from each deceased family to take their place. He expressed his condolences and urged the community to offer support to the bereaved families.
“We are committed to ensuring that the families affected are represented, and we stand with them during this difficult time.”

Lydia Agyekum, mother of one of the deceased, welcomed the announcement and expressed her gratitude.
“I am grateful for the government’s decision to replace my son in the Security Service. It gives me hope amidst this tragedy.”
Six potential recruits, all females died during the stampede at El-Wak Sports Stadium.
A military enquiry has been launched into the incident. Accra News Online has gathered all soldiers deployed to the venue of the screening exercise have been interdicted as the investigations continue.
