The bereaved family’s small living room was filled with somber faces as they recounted the devastating events of November 12, 2025. The Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra turned into a nightmare, claiming the life of their 24-year-old daughter, Matilda Midorse.

The late Matilda’s father has described the tragedy as senseless. “A devastating loss, we’re trying to come to terms… Our daughter’s life was cut short in a senseless tragedy” He stated.

The young woman was a dedicated pharmacist and teacher, passionate about serving her community. Her family described her as a bright and ambitious individual who had dreams of furthering her education and making a difference in the lives of others.

“We got a call from a stranger around 6 am,” the father recalled, his voice shaking. “He told us our daughter had been involved in an incident at the stadium and was rushed to the hospital. We rushed to the scene, but it was chaotic. No one could tell us anything.” the distraught father stated.

The family frantically searched the hospitals desperate for information.

The daughter’s dreams of serving in the Ghana Armed Forces were cut short. Her family is left to grapple with the sudden loss, seeking answers and justice.
