Displaced Ghanaians in Cote d’Ivoire have lauded the efforts made by the Ivorian government since they fled the conflict in the Savannah Region of Ghana and found themselves in Vonkoro, a village in the Bouna Region of Cote d’Ivoire.
“We are very grateful to the government of Cote d’Ivoire for all that they’ve done for us since we came here. They have taken very good care of us since we got here” Darai Anwile Felix said.
“They (Ivorian government) have taken very good care of us since we got here. They have supplied us with food and other essentials which have made our stay here possible and comfortable” he stated further.
Speaking during a visit my the minority led by deputy ranking member for the Foreign Affairs Commitee Nana Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, Felix who is the Assemblyman for Chache Electoral Area, in the Bole District, chastised the head of Ghana’s mission to Cote d’Ivoire for neglecting them.
“While we praise the Ivorian Government for the kindness shown to us, the Ghanaian Embassy in Abidjan has neglected us. They have never shown any concern or empathy about our plight upon reaching here” he explained.
“The only time we saw the head of mission was when the Foreign Affairs Minister came here. But for the Minister visiting us, the head of mission and the staff at the Embassy would not have come here” he lamented in his concluding remarks.
