Police in Kumasi have arrested three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Kusasi Chief, Abdul-Malik Azenbe.
The suspects — Jamil Usman (also known as Babamu or Guru), Suleman Yasir Arafat (alias Obasanjo), and Ashiadu Sumbeida (popularly called Eyeshadow) — were picked up during an intelligence-led operation, according to police.
Chief Azenbe was shot dead on July 22, 2025, outside his residence near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre. Eyewitnesses say two gunmen arrived on a motorbike around 8:40 p.m., with one wielding an AK-47 rifle and opening fire.
At a press briefing, Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, confirmed the arrests and noted that the suspects are being transferred for further investigations.
Police also revealed that a fourth suspect, identified as Illiasu, also known as Abodam, remains at large. Authorities are appealing to the public for information to aid in his arrest.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
