Attorney-General Drops Charges Against Two Accomplices of Abu Trica in $8 Million Fraud Case

The Attorney-General has withdrawn charges against Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo, the second and third accused persons in the ongoing extradition case involving Frederick Kumi, also known as Emmanuel Kojo Baah or Abu Trica.

A notice of withdrawal dated January 14, 2026, was issued by the Office of the Attorney-General in Accra. The decision was taken under Section 59 of the Criminal and Other Offences (Procedure) Act, 1960 (Act 30).

The notice stated that Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo have been withdrawn from prosecution in respect of all charges brought against them in the case.

The extradition proceedings are linked to the 1931 Extradition Treaty between the United Kingdom and the United States. The treaty applies to extradition matters between Ghana and the United States.

The notice was signed by the Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai. It was addressed to the Registrar of the Gbese District Court in the Greater Accra Region.

Frederick Kumi, the first accused person, remains before the court. The case seeks to determine whether he should be extradited to the United States.

Abu Trica is a social media personality known for displaying an extravagant lifestyle online. He is wanted by United States authorities for allegedly defrauding victims through false pretence.

On January 13, the Gbese District Court fixed February 7, 2026, to rule on whether Frederick Kumi should be discharged from the extradition proceedings.

He was arraigned under Ghana’s Extradition Act, 1960 (Act 22), following a request by the United States government to have him surrendered to stand trial for alleged fraud-related offences.

The February 7 ruling date was set after the state withdrew charges against Lord Eshun and Bernard Aidoo. They were earlier listed as accessories in a charge sheet filed on December 12, 2025.
