New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has engaged Japanese researchers and technology firms as part of a study tour focused on exploring technological innovations and their potential applications in Ghana.
His first engagement was with the Matsuo-Iwasawa Laboratory at the University of Tokyo, which specialises in deep learning and Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The laboratory focuses on developing and exploring AI applications across key sectors, including healthcare, education, manufacturing and agriculture.

Dr. Bawumia’s delegation also held engagements with Japanese space technology institutions and companies, including Axelspace, Hanibashi and Cross U.
Discussions focused on how satellite technology and data could be deployed to address development challenges, particularly flooding, deforestation, drought stress and crop monitoring.

The engagements formed part of the delegation’s broader study tour to examine technological solutions that could support innovation and development in Ghana.
