GIMPA incident: Parliament confirms Sosu is stable, cautions against speculation

Parliament has appealed to the public and media to stop circulating a video showing Madina MP Francis-Xavier Sosu taking ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

According to Parliament, the MP received immediate assistance at the event before being transferred to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.

“Parliament is pleased to confirm that Hon. Sosu is in stable condition and is under the care of his medical team,” Parliament said in a statement.

The House also urged the public to respect the MP’s privacy and that of his family by refraining from circulating the video.

“Desist from sharing the video, out of respect for the Honourable Member and his family,” it said.

Parliament further cautioned against speculation regarding the cause of the incident or the MP’s health condition.

“Refrain from speculation on the cause of the incident or his condition,” the statement added.

The institution expressed appreciation to GIMPA management and staff, medical personnel and others who responded promptly to the incident, as well as members of the public who have offered prayers and goodwill messages.

Parliament said further updates would be issued through its official channels when necessary.

The appeal follows the circulation of a video on social media showing the Madina MP taking ill during a presentation at GIMPA. Parliament said he was promptly assisted and taken to a medical facility for further care.
