Traffitech-GH: Police completes final training ahead of October 1 rollout

The Ghana Police Service has completed a final round of training for enforcement personnel and key public sector institutions in the Volta Region ahead of the rollout of the Traffitech-GH system.

The training was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho and brought together 45 participants.

The participants included personnel from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), as well as representatives of the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

The Police said the exercise was part of preparations for the system to become operational on October 1, 2026.

The training was the fifth and final programme in a nationwide series organised to prepare enforcement teams for the new system.

According to the Police, the exercise “forms part of ongoing preparations towards the operationalisation of Traffitech-GH on 1st October 2026, in accordance with Regulation 242.”

The Police further disclosed that the Volta Regional back office has been equipped with the updated Traffitech-GH software.

Participants were briefed on automated traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, the implementation of Traffitech-GH and the process for contesting offences.

They also received an overview of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519) and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).

The regional back-office team underwent practical training on the use of the in-vehicle fixed camera as well as the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera.

“As part of preparations for the commencement of Traffitech-GH on 1st October 2026, the Volta Region back office has also been set up with the updated Traffitech-GH software at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho,” the Police said.

The rollout is expected to introduce greater use of automated technology in the detection and processing of road traffic offences.
