More beneficiaries regain sight under Weija-Gbawe MP’s eye care initiative

More residents of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency have regained their sight after undergoing successful eye surgeries under an initiative spearheaded by the Member of Parliament, Jerry Ahmed Shiab.

The second batch of beneficiaries has successfully completed the procedures as part of a collaboration between the Columbia Union Conference in the United States, the Ghana Adventist Health Services (GAHS), and the medical team at SDA Valley View Hospital.

The intervention is aimed at providing access to specialised eye care for residents suffering from vision-related conditions, particularly those who may not have the financial means to seek treatment.

Organisers say the programme is not only restoring vision but also helping beneficiaries regain their independence, improve their quality of life, and participate more actively in their communities.

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, Jerry Ahmed Shiab said the partnership demonstrates the importance of collective efforts in addressing preventable vision impairment and expanding access to quality healthcare.

He assured residents that the programme would continue with more beneficiaries expected to benefit in subsequent phases, reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the health and welfare of people in the constituency.
