Young Ghanaian lawyer dies after collapsing during Ghana World Cup victory celebration

A 26-year-old Ghanaian legal practitioner, identified as Sara Araba Tettey, has reportedly died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama in a 2026 World Cup match.

According to reports, the young lawyer was watching the game with friends at a private hostel near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Bomso when she suddenly collapsed during post-match celebrations.

She was immediately rushed to the KNUST Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes. Despite the efforts, she was later pronounced dead.

Tettey, a graduate of the KNUST Faculty of Law and a recent call to the Ghana Bar, was working with O & A Legal Consult. Her sudden passing has shocked colleagues, friends, and members of the legal community, many of whom described her as a promising young professional.

Her body has been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary pending further investigations and arrangements.

The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed by medical authorities or her family.
