The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has cautioned the public against fraudulent text messages demanding payment for alleged DVLA fines through fake online links.
In a statement issued on June 10, 2026, the Authority said it has become aware of scammers sending unsolicited SMS messages to unsuspecting individuals, falsely claiming to collect fines on behalf of the DVLA.
According to the Authority, the fraudulent messages contain links that redirect recipients to fake websites where they are prompted to make payments for supposed traffic or licensing fines. The scammers often use claims of discounted fines or urgent payment deadlines to pressure victims into making payments.
The DVLA stressed that it does not offer discounts on fines and warned that any person, website, platform, or message claiming otherwise should be treated as fraudulent.
The Authority further clarified that the only approved online payment platform for DVLA transactions is the Government of Ghana’s official payment portal, Ghana.gov.gh, while its official website remains dvla.gov.gh.
It advised members of the public not to click on suspicious links, share personal information, or make payments through unofficial channels.
The DVLA urged anyone who receives such messages to report them to the nearest DVLA office or law enforcement authorities for investigation.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the public against fraud and ensuring that all transactions are conducted through secure and authorized platforms.
