Zoomlion Ghana Limited has rejected allegations of billing irregularities raised in the Auditor-General’s report on the 13th All-African Games, insisting that claims of duplicated labour charges are inaccurate and based on a misinterpretation of its contracts.
The Auditor-General’s report questioned possible duplication of labour-related costs in invoices submitted by Zoomlion Ghana Limited for cleaning and vector control services during the Games.
In a response issued on May 27, 2026, the company described the findings as “untrue,” arguing that the audit conflated two separate contractual arrangements—vector control and janitorial services.
According to Zoomlion, the two contracts covered distinct operations. Vector control involved mosquito control, fogging, and pest management, while janitorial services focused on waste disposal, toilet maintenance, and cleaning across competition venues.
The company maintained that labour charges under both contracts were legitimate and reflected different teams, schedules, and operational requirements.
It further explained that the services covered a wide scope of activities, including waste collection, vacuum cleaning, medical waste handling, provision of mobile toilets, water supply, and cesspit management.
Zoomlion also stated that it deployed over 350 trained personnel and significant equipment across major venues such as the Accra Sports Stadium, Borteyman Sports Complex, Achimota Cricket Oval, and Bukom Trust Emporium during the All-African Games.
The company insisted that all invoices, contracts, service schedules, and supervision records were submitted to relevant state institutions overseeing the Games.
It further argued that its operations helped ensure smooth sanitation management throughout the competition period, with no reported sanitation failures or disease outbreaks.
“Zoomlion unequivocally denies these allegations,” the statement said, adding that it remains committed to integrity, accountability, and professional service delivery.
