Police Administration denies malpractice claims in promotional exams

The Ghana Police Service has denied allegations of paper leakage, bribery and irregularities in the recently conducted Police Competitive Promotional Examination (PCPE) for Chief Inspectors seeking admission into the Police Academy.

In a statement from the IGP’s Secretariat, the Police Administration described the allegations as false and misleading, insisting the examinations were conducted transparently in collaboration with the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

The Service rejected claims that officers paid between GH¢70,000 and GH¢100,000 to secure promotions, stressing that no evidence had been presented to support the accusations.

According to the statement, strict security measures were implemented before, during and after the examinations to prevent malpractice. The Administration challenged anyone with credible evidence of bribery or irregularities to formally submit it for investigation.

The statement also noted that Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno has encouraged dissatisfied candidates to use internal review processes instead of resorting to the media. The Police Service further disclosed that about 300 officers who obtained 50 percent were considered for promotion following a special intervention and amnesty granted by President John Dramani Mahama.

The Administration reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, professionalism and fairness in all promotional processes.
