Former Managing Director for GIHOC Distilleries Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office, EOCO. According to sources the arrest forms part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial malfeasance at GIHOC during his time.
The former KMA Mayor was picked up at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
The arrest follows a raid on his private residence in Kumasi last week, although details of what was retrieved during the operation remain unclear.
Individuals familiar with the investigation say the probe is focused on possible breaches of public financial management protocols during his tenure at GIHOC Distilleries.
The development marks the latest in a series of high-profile investigations targeting former public officials, as authorities intensify scrutiny over the management of public funds by officials under the Nana Addo administration.
