Former Power Minister, Dr Kwabena Donkor, has called on Ghanaians to boycott or reduce their patronage of South African companies operating in Ghana in response to reported xenophobic incidents in South Africa.
In a statement, Dr. Donkor stressed that the action should be driven by citizens rather than the state, urging individuals to take personal steps in protest.
“We as Ghanaians, and not the State, must boycott or reduce our patronage of South African companies in Ghana,” he stated, adding that he intends to close his account with Stanbic Bank as part of the move.
His comments come amid growing concerns over the treatment of foreign nationals, including Ghanaians, in South Africa, which has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for action.
