A 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, has been arrested by police in Kumasi for allegedly killing his girlfriend in a suspected domestic violence incident.
The suspect is accused of fatally assaulting his partner, Sally Benson, a popular Kumasi-based beautician, at Ayigya-Maxima on April 14, 2026, following a misunderstanding.
According to police reports, the deceased had gone to Arthur’s residence with a female friend after receiving information that another woman had visited him. The suspect was not at home upon their arrival but later returned, leading to a confrontation.
Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare indicated that an argument ensued, during which Arthur allegedly assaulted the victim repeatedly until she collapsed.
She was subsequently rushed to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Arthur was arraigned before the Asokore Mampong District Court, presided over by Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter, on April 22, 2026. He has been remanded into custody and is expected to reappear on May 8, 2026.
The death of Sally Benson, owner of a cosmetics studio and a pub in the Asokwa area, has left her family and community in shock.

Her father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, expressed profound grief and called for justice, urging authorities to ensure that the law takes its course.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
