The Office of the National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has firmly denied allegations circulating on social media suggesting the existence of an alternative short code for the payment of party dues.
In a statement issued on April 22, 2026, the Treasurer, Dr. Charles Dwamena, described the claims as false, malicious, and deliberately intended to mislead party members and the general public. The allegations, reportedly originating from a Facebook page identified as “Wo Boooowa,” accused the Treasurer of diverting party funds into a personal account through an unauthorized short code.
The Office clarified that the party’s official dues payment short code has always been *920*270# and has not been changed at any point. It further stressed that the short code *714*2028#, which is currently being circulated online, is not associated with the NPP and should be disregarded.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Party’s dues collection short code has always been *920*270#,” the statement emphasized.
Party members, supporters, and stakeholders have been urged to remain vigilant and avoid using any unverified payment platforms. The Office also reassured the public of the transparency and integrity of its dues collection system.
The development comes amid increasing concerns over the spread of misinformation on social media, particularly as the party approaches its internal electoral processes.
