The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has assured the Military High Command that his recent remarks about a joint military-police operation in his constituency were not intended as an attack on the Ghana Armed Forces.
Mr George gave the assurance after meeting the Minister for Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Commanders on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, to discuss concerns arising from the operation.
It will be recalled that last Tuesday, soldiers, allegedly led by Lieutenant Albert Goh, stormed Ningo-Prampram and seized trucks belonging to residents at a sand-winning site.
Some of the affected drivers claimed they were assaulted and prevented from carrying out their work.
Following the incident, Mr George called for the immediate dismissal of the officers involved in the operation, describing their conduct as “akin to armed robbery”.
His comments subsequently attracted concerns from the Military High Command, particularly over portions of a video in which he addressed his constituents after the incident.
However, following Wednesday’s meeting, Mr George stressed that he holds the Ghana Armed Forces in the highest regard, as he had stated in his original address.
Taking to his social media handles shortly after the meeting, the MP described the engagement as frank and cordial, saying he understood how his remarks had been received by members of the wider military fraternity.
Mr George described the meeting as frank and cordial, saying he had clarified that his remarks were not intended as an attack on the Ghana Armed Forces.
“We had a frank and cordial discussion. I assured the High Command that my remarks were never intended as an attack on the Ghana Armed Forces, an institution I hold in the highest regard, as I stated in that same address. I expressed my understanding at how my remarks have been received by the larger Army fratenity and agreed to work closer with the Minister for Defence in future situations. My concern was, and remains, the conduct of the personnel involved in the incident and the harm my constituents suffered.”

However, the Ningo-Prampram MP maintained that his concerns were specifically about the conduct of the personnel involved in the incident and the harm suffered by his constituents.
“As Member of Parliament, I have a duty to speak up for the people who elected me, and I will always do so. I am therefore encouraged by the Chief of Defence Staff’s commitment to open an investigation into the matter, and I trust it will be thorough and that its outcome will be made known.”
He also thanked the Defence Minister for his swift intervention and expressed his readiness to work with the Minister and the Military High Command to ensure that the rights of residents of Ningo-Prampram are protected while upholding the integrity and reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The MP urged his constituents to remain calm, cooperate fully with the investigation and allow the process to run its course.
