Veteran journalist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart Adnan Kofi Adams Mohammed has declared his intention to contest for a position on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), promising to strengthen grassroots engagement, improve party communication and expand training opportunities for young members.
Mr Adams formally announced his intention in a declaration submitted to the party leadership on October 20, 2026, as the NDC prepares for its internal executive elections.
He said his decision to seek a position on the NEC was driven by his commitment to accountability, social justice and service to the party.
“I write to formally announce my intention to contest for the position of National Executive Committee Member,” Adams declared. “My decision to step forward for this role is rooted in a lifelong dedication to the principles of Probity, Accountability, and Social Justice, coupled with a deep desire to serve at the highest administrative level.”
Mr Adams brings experience from different levels of the party’s organisational structure, having served as a branch secretary and constituency communications officer before becoming a national media strategist and co-founder of the NDC Press Corps.
He believes his experience at both the grassroots and national levels would help him connect local party structures with the national leadership.
“Having worked from the branch level all the way to the national platform, I understand both the core operational needs of our grassroots members and the strategic imperative required at the national executive level,” he noted.
If elected, Mr Adams says he will focus on strengthening party communication, developing young members and improving engagement between constituency and regional structures and the national leadership.
His proposed priorities include revitalising the party’s communications strategy to respond to political opposition, expanding youth and cadre training networks, and establishing more direct communication channels between regional branches and national headquarters.
He said stronger communication would help ensure grassroots members are adequately supported and their concerns reach the party’s leadership.
“Streamlining communication channels between national leadership and branch executives ensures our base is well-resourced, heard, and prioritised,” Adams stressed.
He added that the party needed to make better use of professional media expertise to communicate its policies and shape public discussion.
“We must leverage professional media experience to proactively shape the public narrative and articulate our party’s policies clearly to the electorate.”
Mr Adams has also called on party delegates and elders to support candidates with administrative experience as the NDC prepares its internal structures for the next phase of its political work.
He argued that effective leadership would require experience, organisational capacity, loyalty and the ability to implement strategies.
