Justin Frimpong Kodua has secured another term as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), defeating three other contenders in the party’s national executive elections in Kumasi.
Mr Kodua polled 4,486 votes to retain the position at the National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Former Ngleshie Amanfro MP Sylvester Tetteh was his closest challenger with 1,340 votes, while Eugene Boakye Antwi and Dr Charles Dwamena recorded 162 and 129 votes respectively.
The result gives Kodua a second consecutive mandate as the NPP’s General Secretary and places him at the centre of the party’s efforts to reorganise its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking after his victory, Kodua thanked delegates for renewing their confidence in his leadership.
“This victory belongs to every member of the NPP. I am grateful for the trust delegates have shown in me, and I remain committed to serving the party with dedication and discipline,” he said.
He also pledged to work towards rebuilding unity within the party and strengthening its electoral structures.
“Together, we will build a stronger and more united party capable of winning the confidence of Ghanaians once again,” he stated.
Kodua first became NPP General Secretary in 2022 and has since played a central role in the party’s administration, organisational activities and electoral preparations.
His re-election formed part of the NPP’s national officers’ elections, which brought together 7,163 delegates to vote on nine key executive positions.
The elections are part of the party’s broader reorganisation following its defeat in the 2024 general elections and its preparations for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary contests.
