The Abeadze Traditional Area has launched the Abeadze Trust Fund as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the enstoolment of its Paramount Chief, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII and the Ahobaa Kese Festival 2026.
The Fund was officially announced at Abeadze Dominase on Saturday, during a grand durbar to climax the celebration of the historic festival.
The launch formed the climax of the celebration of three decades of the Paramount Chief’s reign, which was described as a legacy of wisdom, humility, courage, compassion, integrity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
Delivering an address at the durbar, the Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse congratulated the chief on his 30-year reign and praised his stewardship of natural resources.
She said 30 years ago when the chief ascended the stool, communities were guided by strong traditional values that protected forests, water bodies and farmlands as sacred inheritance for future generations.
She called for a revival of those values to address Ghana’s current environmental challenges, including plastic pollution and degradation of water bodies.
The EPA CEO also linked the anniversary to the ongoing national campaign to eliminate styrofoam and other single-use plastics, describing it as a call for attitudinal change to safeguard drains, water bodies and public health.
She stressed that traditional authorities remain indispensable partners to the EPA in environmental governance.
“I will donate 10,000 Ghana Cedis as seed money and I entreat members of my committee and everyone gathered here to support this legacy Abeadze Trust Fund,” she announced.
The Planning Committee Chairperson expressed appreciation to His Royal Majesty for the confidence reposed in the committee to plan the historic celebration, saying it was a privilege to contribute to an event befitting the remarkable legacy of a visionary king whose influence transcends the Abeadze State.
She prayed for excellent health, abundant grace and many more years of peaceful and impactful reign for the Paramount Chief.
