Newly appointed Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has pledged his unwavering loyalty to President John Dramani Mahama following his reassignment from the Ministry of Defence.
In a post on Facebook, Mr. Brogya Genfi, who previously served as Deputy Defence Minister, expressed gratitude to President Mahama for appointing him to the new role as part of the latest changes to the government.
“My deepest gratitude goes to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing me as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness,” he wrote.
He said he was particularly touched by the confidence President Mahama first reposed in him as Deputy Defence Minister and by the responsibility entrusted to him following the death of his former boss, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, in a helicopter crash.
“I am especially touched by the confidence he first reposed in me as Deputy Minister for Defence and for entrusting me to hold the fort under the supervision of the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, for a year following the painful helicopter crash which claimed the life of my boss, Hon. Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and seven other compatriots,” he added.
Mr. Brogya Genfi assured the President that he would remain committed to his duties in his new capacity.
“I assure the President of my unwavering loyalty and dedication in discharging my duties in this new capacity,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the directors and staff of the Ministry of Defence, the Military High Command and the Ghana Armed Forces, the Armed Forces Council, Defence Industries Holding Company (DIHOC), and the Veterans Administration, Ghana, for their support throughout his service.
His appointment follows a fresh shake-up of President Mahama’s government announced on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Under the changes, Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, has been moved to the Presidency to take charge of the Special Initiatives portfolio.
The Minister of State for Special Initiatives, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, has, in turn, been moved to the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Job Creation.
A statement signed by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, said the reassignments take immediate effect.
The latest changes come nearly three weeks after President Mahama announced another reshuffle of his government, which saw Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings and Mahama Ayariga reassigned to the Environment and Local Government portfolios, respectively.
