Mahama summons Ebi Bright, TDC CEO over Tema development dispute

President John Dramani Mahama has summoned the Managing Director of TDC Company Limited, Courage Nunekpeku, and Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive Ebi Bright to a meeting over a dispute surrounding an ongoing development project at Community One Site Three in Tema.

Also expected at the meeting are the Minister for Local Government and the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., and is expected to address the concerns surrounding the project and the differing positions of the TDC and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA).

The President’s directive, issued on Friday, August 14, comes amid a standoff between the TMA and TDC over an ongoing development and infilling project in the community.

The TMA has directed TDC to halt work, arguing that the development is being undertaken without the required permit.

The Assembly has also cited concerns raised by residents, including the alleged felling of about 50 trees, demolition of structures, encroachment on playgrounds and green belts, and obstruction of access routes.

The dispute has heightened concerns over the development and use of public spaces in Community One Site Three.

Monday’s meeting is expected to bring the relevant stakeholders together to address the concerns, clarify their respective positions and determine the way forward on the project.
