The Minister for the Interior has directed the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault of an arrested suspect after civilians allegedly gained access to him while in custody.

The IGP has further been directed to identify, arrest and investigate the civilians involved in the assault in accordance with the law.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
