The Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, has criticised attacks on the National Cathedral project, describing the debate as a reflection of what he calls Ghana’s “small-minded” approach to national development.
Speaking on the issue, Pastor Otabil said partisan politics had clouded the judgment of many Ghanaians and prevented them from appreciating the broader significance of major national projects.
“We are so small-minded, so small-minded that we allow politics to blind us. We allow politics to just crush our thinking,” he said.
He argued that Ghanaians should be able to distinguish between political disagreements and projects that could have a lasting impact on the country.
The National Cathedral, initiated under the former President Akufo Addo has been a a subject public debate over its cost and relevance.
