The Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has imposed a curfew and banned the carrying of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons in Damankunyili, Nyeshie and surrounding communities following a deadly communal boundary clash.
The violence claimed one life and left six others injured, prompting authorities to introduce emergency security measures to restore calm and prevent further disturbances.
In a statement signed by the Municipal Chief Executive and Chairman of MUSEC, Abdulai Imoro Gong, the council condemned the violence, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The curfew, which took effect immediately, will be enforced daily from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. until further notice.
MUSEC said security has been heightened in the affected communities, with joint police patrols deployed to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order.
The council appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies, remain calm and resolve their differences through peaceful dialogue as efforts continue to restore lasting peace in the municipality.
