ACCRA — Government has officially unveiled a series of national activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic August 6, 2025 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight distinguished national patriots.
According to an official statement from the Jubilee House, the state-led events are designed to honor the selfless service and supreme sacrifice of the departed individuals while offering renewed solidarity and support to their families.
The commemorative activities commenced on Thursday, July 30, 2026, with the formal presentation of state support to the families of the victims.
The remembrance lineup continues next week with three major national events:

- Memorial Lecture: The Dr. Edward Omane Boamah Memorial Lecture will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Burma Hall in Burma Camp at 2:00 p.m.
- National Service & Cenotaph Unveiling: A National Inter-Faith Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the UPSA Auditorium, where a physical memorial cenotaph will also be unveiled.
- Blood Donation Drive: A nationwide “Service to the Soul” blood donation campaign will roll out on Friday, August 7, 2026, across all regional, district, and teaching hospitals, including the 37 Military Hospital.
The general public, state officials, and civic organizations are invited to participate in these events to pay their respects to the fallen heroes.
