The Ministry of Education is set to convene a two-day National Conference on Stemming Indiscipline in Senior High Schools in Sunyani from July 29 to 30, bringing together key stakeholders to develop practical and sustainable solutions to the growing challenge of student indiscipline.
Ahead of the conference, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu held a strategic meeting with members of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to discuss the state of discipline in senior high schools and the shared responsibility of restoring discipline, character and academic excellence.
The meeting also served as an opportunity for the Minister to welcome participants and stakeholders expected to take part in the national dialogue.
The conference will provide a broad-based consultative platform for education administrators, teachers, students, parents, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, security agencies and development partners to examine the root causes of indiscipline in schools and propose practical interventions.
According to the Ministry, recommendations from the conference will form the basis of a comprehensive policy paper to guide the development of a coordinated national framework for addressing indiscipline in senior high schools while strengthening values-based education across the country.
The Ministry says it is confident the conference will mark a significant step towards creating safer, more disciplined and academically conducive learning environments for Ghanaian students.
