The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended the Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman, Stephen Ofosu Agyare, from office with immediate effect following disciplinary proceedings initiated by the party.
The decision was taken by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) at its meeting on July 21, 2026, after considering a petition submitted by Awutu Senya East MP Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor and recommendations from the Central Regional Council of Elders.
In a letter signed by the NDC’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party said the FEC found sufficient grounds to invoke Articles 48(4) and 48(6) of the party’s constitution.
“Accordingly, you are hereby suspended from your position as Constituency Chairman of Awutu Senya East Constituency for a period of five (5) months, effective immediately,” the letter stated.
The party has also referred the matter to its National Disciplinary Committee for a full investigation and any further action deemed appropriate under the NDC Constitution.
During the suspension period, Mr. Ofosu Agyare has been directed not to perform any official duties or exercise any authority as Constituency Chairman until the disciplinary process is concluded or the party issues further directives.
The NDC said copies of the petition filed by the Awutu Senya East MP and the report of the Central Regional Council of Elders were attached to the suspension letter for his attention.
The party further urged the suspended constituency chairman to comply fully with the directive.
