France and Spain have dominated FIFA’s final Power Rankings following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise and Rodri emerging as the tournament’s top performers in their respective categories.
The rankings, powered by Aramco and published by FIFA after the tournament, assess players based on their performances across attacking, creativity and defensive metrics.
Fresh from winning the Golden Boot with 10 goals, France captain Kylian Mbappé finished as the tournament’s highest-rated attacking player with a score of 9.12. England midfielder Jude Bellingham placed second, while Argentina captain Lionel Messi ranked third after scoring eight goals during the competition.
France’s Michael Olise topped the creativity rankings with a score of 8.29, narrowly edging Messi, who finished second on 8.26. Mbappé completed the top three in the category.
Olise’s remarkable campaign also saw him register seven assists – the most ever recorded by a player in a single FIFA World Cup – breaking Pelé’s 56-year-old record set at the 1970 tournament. The Bayern Munich playmaker was instrumental in France’s run to the semi-finals, repeatedly creating chances for teammates, including Golden Boot winner Mbappé.
Spain’s World Cup-winning captain Rodri led the defensive rankings with a score of 8.23 after anchoring the tournament’s best defence.
He was followed by fellow Spaniards Pau Cubarsí, Pedro Porro and Aymeric Laporte, underlining Spain’s dominance at the back on their way to lifting the trophy.
The rankings also highlighted the strength of France’s squad, with Ousmane Dembélé finishing among the top attacking players and Aurélien Tchouaméni making the top 10 defenders.
Overall, players from France, Spain and England featured prominently across all three categories, reflecting their strong performances throughout the tournament.
Spain were crowned world champions after defeating Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final at MetLife Stadium, while Rodri claimed the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player, Mbappé secured the Golden Boot, and Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón won the Golden Glove.
