The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects and retrieved firearms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons during an intelligence-led operation at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID), forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on armed robbery and related criminal activities in the region.
According to a statement issued on Monday, July 20, and signed by Head of Public Affairs Juliana Obeng, the suspects are Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26, and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.
The five were arrested on July 17, 2026, during the intelligence-led operation and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Police said a search of the suspects’ premises led to the recovery of a pump-action gun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a dummy Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round of ammunition, a talisman, and two kitchen knives.
All the items have been retained as exhibits for evidential purposes.
According to the service, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are believed to be members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities.
Police also suspect the recovered weapons were used to terrorize residents in Sapeiman and surrounding communities.
The Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the suspects’ involvement in other criminal activities and to apprehend any additional accomplices.
